Info: Born in a small Guatemalan town, Anamaria Gonzalez moved to the United States after graduating as a Teacher in Guatemala. She arrived in Maryland in 1990 and begun studying English as a Second Language. In 1992 she moved to Maine to pursue her Bachelor’s degree at the University of Southern Maine, where she completed a four year career with a Double major in three years.

In 1995 Anamaria joined Butts Financial Group (BFG) as Administrative Assistant and quickly moved up to become the Vice President of Operations for Latin America for the International Mergers and Acquisitions division of BFG. In 1997, due to unforeseen circumstances, Anamaria moved back to her native Guatemala where she got hired by the United States Department of Agriculture within the United States Embassy in Guatemala to represent the Foreign Agricultural Services as Marketing Specialist, where she served for two years proving to have a good instinct for market development, successfully placing several products in the market, including a couple of multi-million dollar sales of US products for distribution in Central America. She continued her work as Marketing Specialist, until hired by the Government of Guatemala to represent the commercial interests of the country abroad. That is when Ms. Gonzalez became the Commercial Attaché of Guatemala to the United States of America, based in Washington D.C. During her time in DC Ms. Gonzalez worked on several issues, including the Caribbean Basin Initiative, the US Free Trade Agreement with Central America and Dominican Republic, as well as bilateral trade issues between Guatemala and the United States.

Ms. Gonzalez had to face many challenges, including limited budgets and lack of support personnel, as well as time sensitive issues, political crisis and country/product image problems, but managed to always maintain a constant flow of work and seamless transitions throughout difficult times.

While employed by the Embassy of Guatemala in Washington DC, Ms. Gonzalez had to work with people from all over the world and from all socio-economic levels. This has given Ms. Gonzalez a broad perspective of understanding of the needs of different size companies and businesses, which now she can transfer to her work at Butts Financial Group and Butts Commercial Brokers, as well as a great perspective on international and multicultural issues.
